Starting from Scratch

Originally a RCMP detachment, the building required many renovations and extensive wiring to supply the requirements for each of the exam rooms, lap, offices and reception. With new wiring being run, dual cat5 was supplied to support both the telephony and IT systems. REP4 ensured that all cabling was properly labeled at both connection ends to ease troubleshooting at any later date.

Working with the building contractors REP4 also ensured each room had the necessary building infrastructure for each workstation:
Adequate power
Grommet/wiring holes
Conveniently placed wiring boxes for the cat5 wiring.

Wiring termination was completed and tested by REP4 Technologies.

What was originally a hall closet was converted into the IT closet which housed not only the server and network support hardware, but the telephony system as well. This closet proved to be well suited to house the server and other equipment. The closet itself is located away from public access and is equipped with a door that allows airflow.

Rollout Software

REP4 enabled the Eveline Street Clinic to bring its vision of a using digital charts or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) into being. From the beginning, REP4 worked with the EMR software provider to ensure all hardware and software would be compatible for the most user friendly experience.

Server

The clinics biggest concern was server reliability. With this in mind, REP4 “spec’d” the server with the following enhancements:
UPS
Dual Network Interface cards
Dual Power Supply.

Newer virtual solutions were considered, but were not chosen for compatibility/support reasons.

Workstations
Due to limited space and the exposed workstations in each exam room, computer footprint and cable management were key. Each exam room was outfitted with an lcd monitor and small form factor (sff) tower. These proved to be the perfect solution, even with the less desirable laptop cd/dvd drive, due to the expected infrequent use of this device.
REP4 Technologies went to great lengths to reduce the amount of visible wiring and where wiring was visible it was secured and out of the way.

Ongoing Service

REP4 Technologies continues to support the Eveline Street Clinic, by not only providing the day to day ad-hoc support buy also ensuring their systems are up to date by performing the following:

Daily reporting of Hard Drive Space
Daily reporting of Backups
Daily monitoring of UPS
Daily reporting of AntiVirus status
Monthly verification of Updates
Monthly backups/restore testing
